| Sales tax at craft fairs | | Does anyone have experience selling at craft fairs in different states, who can tell me what the sales tax laws are in that state? I was wondering if you have to charge sales tax in your state even when you only do an occasional sale, and how complicated the process is. Thank you. | |

| Talk of a national sals tax | | Yep..there is talk within our federal government about having a national sales tax (on top of the state sales tax you pay) put into place. It is a way of raising taxes on EVERYONE. Only you don't get to claim it on your tax returns or have ANY chance of getting it back in a refund.
So what do you think of this? Would you support federal taxes coming out of your paycheck AND then still having to pay a national sales tax on all your purchases? Tell me what you think. | |

| Has your state and city sales tax gone up? | | My daughter handed me a Wal Mart slip today and I just happened to notice the sales tax. This little one horse town I live in is getting 15% state and city sales tax. My daughter told me they were saying on the local news a couple of nights ago this little town is going to raise the city sales tax another 6%. That will be a total of .21 cents on the dollar we will be paying just to spend our money. I think it's about time I got out of this little mud hole of a town.Art | |

| Retiring Soon - Where should I live? | | Ok, so I'm in the military and have a 14 months left before I hit my 20. In all probability, I will stay in for 21, since I am in Europe and have a committment until 2011. Do you have any suggestions on good places to retire? I'd like to open a tea shop, so a large city probably wouldnt work very well. Good schools, decent cost of living, and I don't like alot of heat.Kathy | |

| If you want all of you paychecks vote Libertarian | | You own your work so should not you get you whole paycheck. If the company told you that you would not get you whole check this week you would blow up. So when the Government take a chunk of your check before you even get it, why do not more people complain? I guess more people trust their government than their bose. Libertarians have a plan. Let us do away with all income taxes, all corporate taxes, all taxes on investments, and replace them with a national sales tax. This tax would not be on food, or medicine. It is a better way just because everyone pays taxes, not just those who work. | |

| HR - 25 "Fair" tax bill | | This morning I received an email from my Congressmen regarding the "Fair Tax" bill that he cosponsored HR - 25. While I do not like our current income tax system; this "Fair" tax bill does not seem to be much better. The only real benefit I see is no income tax filing would be required at the Federal level.I personally see a lot of problems with this proposal if it passes and I do not feel that it is really "fair". It benefits people who make little to no income and penalizes people who earn money and then spend that money. It promotes buying "used" which is good for the environment; but not good for jobs. It gives business ZERO taxes - anything purchased for business use is exempt; so only individuals are taxed.
